MAN DECAPITATED BY FIREWORKS ACCIDENT

A horrible reminder of the dangers of fireworks now, just ahead of the July 4th holiday. A Fargo man was decapitated in a fireworks accident. It happened on Monday, when police say 41 year old William Burley was getting ready to set off either a homemade or illegal artillery shell firework in the middle of the street in Fargo’s Riviera Heights mobile home park, when he lit it according to witnesses, who say there was a cloud of smoke, a bang, and when they walked up to his body, it was nothing but his shoulders down. Police are still investigating, but some say the shell contained a warning that read, “If found please report to the U.S. government.”



MAN DROWNS TRYING TO SAVE CHILD

A man died at Detroit Lakes on Saturday evening while trying to save his 3-year-old child, who had fallen from a bridge into the lake. 31 year old Christopher Schultz of Frazee jumped into the water to rescue the child, who was brought to shore by bystanders. Schultz began to struggle while keeping the child above water, and he never resurfaced. Schultz was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The child was treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening. The whole thing remains under investigation.
